Valvoline had their Pro-V racing oil program on display, along with Chris Forsberg’s FormulaD 370Z stripped of its usual vinyl wrap so we could enjoy it in all its full carbon glory.
And the award for most ironic Chinese knock-off company name goes to…Slapco! You know, because if you wear these harnesses in a race car you’re more than likely going to be slapping your helmet and other less well protected parts of your body off the roll cage, the steering wheel, and quite possibly the pavement.
Out front of the main Convention Center entrance there’s also a lot of vendors displaying their goodies, including Achilles. We’ve heard a lot of good things about their 123S extreme performance summer tire, so we’ll have to give these a try sometime soon.
Our buddy Tony from UMS Tuning has recently teamed up with Achilles on his Unlimited class Evo, and based on his recent performance at a NASA AZ Time Attack at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park we’re guessing he’s a happy camper, since he won TTU, set the fastest time of the day overall, and set a new track record.
Scion iA lowrider? Not sure we’re feeling it, but it’s certainly disruptive and the workmanship was top notch.
I was looking for some Toyota Tundra build inspiration since I’m about to trade in my soccer mom SUV on one. This bro style lifted truck isn’t quite what I was looking for, though.
TRD Pro Tundra with a subtle Prerunner treatment? Now we’re talking!
Back in the South Hall, this Tacoma was rather tasty too. Loving the military tan colour.
Over in the North Hall, which is mostly electronics, interior and paint related vendors, Mazda had this stunning MX-5 Spyder concept on display. Amazing what a bikini top, lip kit, lowering, and more aggressive wheels and tires can do on a car as beautifully designed as this.
Even more stunning was this Speedster Concept.
This thing was perfection from every angle. So many subtle details throughout, it’s a master class of design restraint and execution. Quite possibly the best OEM concept car of the entire show, at least in my opinion.
3M had some really interesting vinyl wrap options on display in their booth. We’re talking everything from the ever-popular matte finishes to brushed metal and carbon fiber, all of which is extremely convincing to the eye.
I can’t be the only one who expected the “booth babe” at the end of your coverage to be David in a dress, right?
GrantC Oh man, opportunity missed! Where were you when I needed this idea a few days ago??? 🙂
