You can start to slide the bumper out but don’t forget to disconnect the turn signals and fog lights.

BMW-e28-euro-bumper-conversion-012The plastic bumper trim is held on by two bolts in the center of the front under paneling. Crawl under the car and you’ll see them.

Remove the side markers, they’ll reveal two bolts that hold the side of the bumper trim on.

This photo doesn’t show it well but there are a plethora of screws just above the support beam area holding the trim onto the front end. Remove all of them.

No more ugly trim, toss it in the trash!

This is what you’re front end should look like now. Doesn’t it already look better?! There are e28 owners that run this look but I personally don’t like it, too unfinished for my tastes.

The headlights have to come out since you’ll need to have access to bolts underneath them. Also see those ugly white retaining clips that held the trim in place, they’re now visible so we’ll get to removing them in a bit.

Remove the two bolts holding the side of the valence to the fender. Repeat on the other side.

You’ll find two more bolts on the front of the valance, remove them and pull the entire piece off.

The US and Euro front valances are slightly different. The problem is the Euro valance is the Moby Dick of this conversion. It costs a ridiculous amount to ship overseas, so much so that the cost and effort involved doesn’t make it worthwhile. Especially, when with some cutting and trimming the US valance can be used with very little compromise.
