Connectors! Unplug them but be careful, they may not have been removed for a while and could be rusty or just really hard to disconnect so don’t break ’em.
Slide the Euro Spec headlights in place but don’t tight ’em down just yet (like I did in the photo).
You’ll need to figure out the wiring because the US connectors aren’t a direct plug in onto the Euro lights and unless your lights shipped with the plugs you’ll have to figure out a method to connect them.
My way involves removing the plastic trim around the wires and simply connecting each wire directly to the headlight. Simple, effective and a little ghetto, just my style. I can’t leave those metal connectors exposed though can I?
Hell no! some electrical tape is as good as the OE plastic shielding. Or not, but it definitely does the job. I’ve been driving with these lights for over 3 years now and not a single issue yet.
The Euro high-beam has 3 prongs instead of 2 but luckily it doesn’t matter because when I hooked up the spade connectors in this manner everything worked like a charm.
Place the Euro headlight trim on and secure it in place. Do the same for the other side and if you’re fast like me you’ll have done this job in under 30 minutes.
It already looks better right? Not by much though, just look at those hideous fogs and ghastly bumper! They’re next!
I am interested in your BMW E28 Euro headlight, the car has Euro Bumpers and I have a new set I Hella lights, the high beam are yellow tinted, snuck an OEM moon roof in there to. I have 40 years driving, I really like the 533, I have had 3 of them.
